I thank the original makers of the flags themselves for the realistic feel, since many of my flags are simply altered versions or actual flags that for one reason or another, never got used or arent used.
I must have spent hours looking at each state flag, choosing which ones I wanted to keep, edit, or completely redo. And then since some of these states dont exist or are part of other countries in reality, I looked up their flags also. So it was quite a feat.
And not to toot my own horn, but I think some of my flags are better than a lot of the state flags we have. xD
Politics. The crossland portion of the flag became associated with pro-confederate marylanders during the civil war. In this timeline, while maryland stayed as part of the union, after the civil war, many southern leaning politicians were elected into office, with enough votes to have the flag changed, as sort of a stab against the pro-union marlyanders.
In this timeline, the issue with the flag was called the "Last Battle of the Civil War" because of how much drama it caused. There were some who worried that it could spark hostilities again, and to address the issue, congress actually began hearing proposals regarding chopping up Maryland and giving the land over to surrounding states. Despite it not being within congresses power to do so, it still scared the politicians in maryland to get their act together, and they were able to calm things down in order to keep their sovereignty. But the flag was still pushed thru and remains to this day.
Personally, I think all the flags that are just state seals are really boring.

Though which Transsylvania are we talking about here? I only know about the one in Romania. XD
