The continent of Therascura, for my untitled project. This is another incarnation of the world in which my untitled fantasy project takes place. This is just a blank map, but will be the base for future maps I plan to make showing various times in the history of my story.

That northern land looks cool! (see what I did there?) Especially that mountain range on the peninsula, I can see some pretty strong Katabatic winds thereabouts!

The south pole desert could be problematic; but I think that with a little rotational axis, tidal locking, conservation of angular momentum mumbo jumbo, it could be explained very nicely.

EX: The planet's axis could be angled so that the southern half is always closer to the sun. That would also mean that a certain part of the desert is constantly exposed, which would make it UNBEARABLY HOT!!!. This could also be part of a cycle, rather like the reversal of the magnetic poles on Earth; so in the ancient past, the northern continent was a desert instead, and back and forth throughout geologic time.

I like this sort of stuff. Not that you'd know or anything!

I just thought the south being a desert looked cool.

Im glad so many people seem to like the idea, and have explanations that would actually make it work...sort of.

Well, it seems to me that a planet like this existing in our universe, with things like being locked, would make life, as we know it, rather difficult.

I wouldn't know. I've never passed a physics course in my life (much to the ire of my professors)

It actually would make sense that the south pole is a desert. Now the question is how did it become a desert of sand instead of ice.

I cant say the in universe explanation to the why, 'cause I havent worked it out yet.

It could be that what is believed to be the south pole is just the northern tip of another continent. It could be magic. It could be just how this world works and will never have an explanation.

Oh wow, is the south pole a desert?

That's a pretty neat idea.
